About Amanda.
Her Story. Her Values. Her Mission.
Her Story.
Amanda is a Mixed artist from Union, NJ. As she grew, Amanda was given instruments and encouraged to play, write, draw, and sing to her heart’s content. With a strong love for music, she reached high school and discovered the wonder of live entertainment. Although she lived 14 miles away from New York City, the first performance she watched was In The Heights in her high school’s 1,500 seat proscenium-style theater.
Amanda attended Union High School in Union, NJ, whose performing arts program (UHSPAC) was a recipient of many Paper Mill Playhouse Rising Star Awards. While studying at UHS, Amanda learned the fundamentals of theatre history, performance, and technology from her teacher and guest artists who graduated from SUNY Purchase.
At the end of her senior year of high school, Amanda began her work with interACT Theatre Productions as a Stage Manager and Assistant Director. She continued working with them on five productions during her gap year between high school and college. She also performed with the Paper Mill Playhouse Broadway Show Choir in their selected acapella group, and Assistant Directed a production with Fair Moon Stages during this time.
After a summer with the Shakespeare Theater of NJ, Amanda began her education at The University of North Carolina School of the Arts in the School of Design & Production. She spent four years receiving a well-rounded Stage Management education with a focus on communication and interdepartmental understanding.
Her Values.
Understanding.
Every person has different circumstances outside of their workplace. Amanda is empathetic to the struggles of others, even when they are not obstacles she faces herself. Amanda works to create spaces where people feel comfortable joining even if they aren’t feeling their best. She feels that the best work is done when you put people first.
Inclusion.
Amanda endeavors to help create an open and inclusive environment with every project she works on. She acknowledges the barriers that marginalized artists must push through in order to create their art. Amanda believes that artists can create their best work when they are comfortable bringing their entire selves to their pieces, and hopes to help foster spaces to let creative spirits flourish.
Honesty.
Amanda believes that it is kindest to herself and others to be honest. The best relationships are forged when people are allowed to be vulnerable with each other, and there is no vulnerability without honesty. Amanda strives to be honest with herself and others about her circumstances and capabilities. She believes that honesty from the start helps to prevent confusion later.
Education.
Amanda acknowledges that she stumbled upon live entertainment by chance. Many children don’t live in areas that provide arts education, and many parents don’t see careers in entertainment as sustainable. Amanda aims to bring arts education to child and teen artists across the country and show their parents the potential job opportunities behind the curtains.
Her Mission.
Amanda aims to create spaces where young, diverse artists can learn, create, and make lots of mistakes. Spaces where people are comfortable asking questions and pushing the boundaries of what theatre should do. Amanda believes art is an important outlet for expressing the struggles of lower-income Americans and she hopes to bring arts education to lower-income communities. She hopes to create a network of artists who are unified in their desire to tell the stories of people of many different cultures and ethnicities. Amanda believes that one of the many beautiful aspects of theatre is its ability to show people that human nature and emotion are universal, despite many cultural and societal differences.
